If there was an impact creating the Congo basin, could that have created the Hawaii hotspot? - I just watched something about a giant crater in Antarctica (don't remember source, sorry) that may have been the cause of the Siberian traps (which I was previously assuming were the predecessor of the Hawaii hotspot) - edited at the end: should have waited until the end, but I'm still wondering about the Hawaii hotspot (partly of course because that's where I am) reply
