The Milky Way Course

68 videos in this series

The Milky Way Course will take you through the entire process of photographing the night sky with a wide angle lens. I have multiple workflows that are intended for every skill level.

For beginners, I'll explain the general process of setting up the camera at night, what settings work best, how to process your images, and more.  With a little bit of practice, you'll be taking great photos fairly quickly!

Once you've mastered these skills, you can incorporate some more advanced techniques like image stacking.  This will increase the quality of your images, without adding much extra work.

Finally, we'll incorporate a star tracker. This device will move your camera with the speed of the stars, allowing you to shoot 4+ minute exposures without star trails! This new workflow will give you the highest-quality images possible!

During the post-processing videos, I'll include links to my own RAW, TIFF, and JPEG files. You can easily follow along with me, step-by-step, and practice the skills I teach. We will be using Adobe Bridge, Camera RAW, and Photoshop for these videos. You can get all three programs for $10 a month with Adobe's Photography Plan.

The Milky Way Course will include full tutorials for the SkyGuider Pro, Star Adventurer, and MoveShootMove trackers.  This can also help you to see the differences between the trackers, and choose the best one for your needs.

As always, I will continue to provide free updates to this course! My first bonus module will be focused on Nightscape Panoramas, and should be released this summer.
