Randall lists many of the sites he’s shown and Brad rattles off several more that we’ve skipped, noting that we’ve just “scratched the surface” of revealing the ubiquitous megaflood features across North America. So we jump over a few more to be covered later and zone in on the western “Basin and Range” province that held numerous interconnected lakes, including the massive Lake Bonneville, which eventually eroded thru a narrow notch before scouring a path of destruction along the Snake River Plain of Southern Idaho. Wasatch shorelines, Red Rock Pass, Portneuf Valley, Pocatello, Massacre Rocks, and Twin/Shoshone Falls were all etched by a megaflood from the mega-lake released from Pleistocene Utah.

  • (second viewing March 2022) When I returned to California to work in the Silicon Valley egames industry, I loved to visit the Monterey Aquarium. Aquarium staff and some university researchers were doing cruises with submersibles and ROVs just a couple of miles off the beach, in the Monterey Canyon. One branch comes within a few hundred meters of the beach at Moss Landing, and leads to depths of 1,500 meters within sight of the rocks and hills of the bay shores. <|||] [|||> Some event, possibly one or several cataclysmic floods carved this canyon in the unrecalled past, likely most recently about the time much of the Continental shelf lay dry and ready for delving at the end of the recent Ice Age. <|||] [|||> $ure as $hite nothing carving any canyons in our continental shelf anywhere in this time…

  • Greetings at last! Glad to have sorted out how to connect & navigate via Howtube... Learning about Your investigations and analyses of the earth changes continues to command and reward a fair amount of attention! So many detailed facts emerge in your spoken comments... It's plainly unreasonable to expect you to cite sources for every utterance --> that would mean each video would be double its present running time. But it would be appreciated if you listed somewhere, the research you find most compelling and vital for viewers. Maybe you already have... for instance, Details such as the >> Maximum Flow Rates<< for the draining of lakes addressed in this video. (So far, Seems you have only mentioned the Sverdrup unit in relation to the phenomenal volumes that shaped the Channeled Scablands.) Just to share w other visitors (and help cement it in my brain) the Sverdrup is a non-SI unit coined by folks studying the movement of oceanic-scaled masses of water, named for Oceanographer Harald Sverdrup. According to aapt.scitation.org, "One sverdrup is equivalent to volume transport of one million cubic meters per second." That's a substantial enough unit to be useful for ocean studies, including movement and changes, including loss from evaporation or increase from precipitation over large areas. Tryina wrap my head around all these concepts in Kosmographia keeps putting stretchmarks on my brain.

  • I'll be driving from Michigan to Montana and back (by a different route) during the first two weeks of May. I am in the process of assembling an itinerary to include ice-age sites such as the flood sites in IL, WI, and MN mentioned by RC in this episode. I would love to meet up with other Kosmographia fans at these sites when I get there. Anyone with advice about communicating and finding each other (e.g. Twitter or Parler, or Meetup, ???), please post a comment!
