After revisiting some recent topics, RC starts in on the commonality of legends of cyclic catastrophes due to floods and fires, and the reasons why Native Americans didn’t adopt stories of a great flood from visiting missionaries. We show evidence of huge floods that occurred across the Pacific Northwest, and imagine what survivors of those events might experience after the destruction of their world. Again, the dearth of human remains is pondered, as Randall leads into papers about vast and repeated wildfires at the YDB. Geomythology, gematria, prophecy and apocalypse meld into the conversations that make this an outstanding and memorable episode.

  • If the Pre-YDB Clovis paleo-tribes buried their dead, or placed them on platforms, those "burials" would have been scoured away like a scrawled chalk lettering on a Chalkboard, with the meters of topsoil and geology that the floods swept away. If they Burned'em, or ground them to powder, or ATE'em... Also gone from the record. <||] (•) [||> <||] (•) [||> I read in a history book that when you wanted to change channels on your TV, you had to get up from your chair and walk all the way across the room, grab a knob and twist it in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction. Just like cranking your car to start, or cranking a handle to bring a bucket of water from down at the bottom of a well... Jeez. How did people survive all that? <||] (•) [||> The problem with Kennewick Man is that the discoverer immediately recognized that the skull is European, not Native American... <||] (•) [||> Since Native American claims on ownership of their land are based on US statutory and English common law principles of property rights, defenders of Native Americans immediately leaped on the discovery and claimed that because the skeleton was found near land traditionally used by the present native Americans, it HAD to be one of their ancestors, so it falls under jurisdiction of the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act. NO peeking allowed; No Challenging of provenance Tolerated. Because there is a Ton of $$$$$ at stake in the Casinos and entertainment concessions. <||] (•) [||> My brother bought art books featuring George Caitlin paintings in the 60s for the pictures. Don't think we ever came across "Last Rambles..." <||] (•) [||> My dear brother painted detailed landscapes, wildlife, and fantasy subjects. Gorgeous, meticulous, LAVISH paintings, sometimes spending hundreds of hours of painstaking work. He and I DID spend part of the summer of 1962 on the Hopi Indian reservation, guest of his guitar teacher, who was half Hopi-Half Hawai'ian, and visited her friends and relatives each year. <||] (•) [||> But I'm not aware he EVER carried canvasses, or tanned skins, or colored rocks he intended to crush into powder and mix'm with bear fat to create his own pigments, trekking through frigid mountain streams as he searched for amiable critters and undiscovered communities of guile-less humans. He mostly used his tracking skills to hunt down Big Macs and fries, that didn't need to be wrassled and subdued, particularly. <||] (•) [||> Caitlin did some of the best paintings of American Indians in the first half of the 19th century. I think in the original publication, his paintings were reproduced from fer-Pete's-sake STONE Lithographs!!! Some of the finest I've ever seen. <||] (•) [||> <||] (•) [||> <||] (•) [||> Plainly, the arrogance of the Know-it-all academics knows neither boundaries, nor humility. Kinnewick Episode confirms that our culture has its head up its collective rectum. The General rule is that, given control, most folks only relinquish the exercise of that control with Extreme Reluctance.
