Episode #033: Footprints of Catastrophe - Lac St-Jean

We look at Lac St-Jean as a potential impact site with the Saguenay River fjord as an outflow channel, linked to evidence from YDB layers at PA and NJ Clovis sites, that contain spherules and osmium traceable to lithologies present in Quebecia.

RC's background image of massive glacial erratic "Okotoks" spurs discussion of methods for moving megaliths. Then carrying on from Ep032, we look at Lac St-Jean as a potential impact site with the Saguenay River fjord as an outflow channel, linked to evidence from YDB layers at PA and NJ Clovis sites, that contain spherules and osmium traceable to lithologies present in Quebecia. Similar features are present at another proposed impact site at Lake Nipigon, with massive outflow channels to the south, which leads to discussion of the erosion across the Colorado Plateau and thru the Grand Canyon. Switching back to studies from the Channel Islands, the question of "where are all the human remains" opens again the Anzick One mystery...

  • So if the Anzick infant remains were buried originally by digging deep into the soil inside a cave, digging a pit into what turns out to be a midden created by Clovis people, and the dating of the infant remains is based on the Clovis layer.... it may very well be that the infant was NOT Clovis, but a child of a later group such as the Folsom people who re-populated the area four or five hundred years AFTER the Clovis people were erased by the disastrous events of Younger Dryas. ••••• Guess I'll have to look up information and find out something about how a date was determined for the Anzick remains. Logically, if the infant was buried in a midden, it seems we should find other burials in middens. But no one has found any other human remains reliably linked by ANY correlating factor to the Clovis Culture. Well, there are many cultures around the world that have final "burial" rites in which the deceased person's corpse is left in the open, subject to scavenging --- "Natural Re-Cycling..." That wouldn't leave much for us newcomers to find and profane with our Scientific fiddling.

  • So for the paper you're quoting at marker 01:13:56, the page numbers 2530 - 2545 for the paper by Kennet et al in the Dec 2008 Quaternary science Reviews are the pages in the December issue, reflecting the thousands of sequentially numbered pages published throughout the year in all twelve monthly issues... I keep forgetting that system on accounta all my work has been measured in motion picture film or video frames. Which is why I don't talk or write so good... Subject-Verb Agreement? Is that like a union contract? Isn't this a Rite 2 Werk state? Write two irk? Still sounds okay to me. ‹ =ºÞ
