Randall continues to poke holes in the conventional view of the Clark Fork Valley Ice Dam and its impounded “Lake Missoula,” exposing evidence throughout the basins that indicate they were filled suddenly by flows incoming from the north – and NOT by a century of enhanced rainfall. The tell-tale signatures of a static lake that drained and refilled over forty times are just not there! Evenly-spaced remnant shorelines around all the basins, mega-scale current ripples that reduce in size instead of increasing, and a broad valley that would have to be perfectly sealed to retain 2100’ water depth, are all substantial problems that demand a new perspective on the Ice Age Floods.

  • In the discussion of "strand lines" [¿shore lines?] at about 22:50, It has always seemed to me they are DEPOSITIONAL features, NOT Erosional... Is that correct for standing water like in most lakes? Of course, there are currents in lakes. But except for active flood conditions, the likelihood of scouring or flooding seems miniscule, compared to that of dropping suspended sediment and debris. Under some flow conditions, the two could balance... But a Lake by definition is a wide-area impoundment, not a channel with flowing, churning, violent currents. • Besides... Even Rivers that flow can create some depositional shorelines along parts of their courses through flat - shallow gradients . (Like the natural elevated Levees along the Yellow River in China, and the Mississippi in the Delta regions.)
